Thieves hit several apartments on Allen Parkway

HOUSTON – Several apartments were targeted by thieves just before Christmas.

We've been hearing more and more about high-end apartment complexes being hit while people are at work.    On Friday, there was another round of burglaries in the area. One of the victims told us she was only gone for an hour.

"It's pretty shocking, especially in a nice part of town like this, a nice complex," said resident Buck Rogers.

Several people living at the AMLI 2121 apartments on Allen Parkway near Montrose Boulevard got the dreaded call Friday afternoon that their apartments were broken into while they were gone.

"The whole inside door frame was busted through and then they just tossed all the drawers were open and all the stuff was just thrown everywhere, through the closet, through the bedroom," said resident Nicole Janecka.

Police said all the burglaries appear to be on the same floor.

"From my room, they took some Big 12 Championship rings from Texas A&M soccer and softball and some diamond tennis bracelets. I had ruby, an emerald, and diamond, and straight diamond," said Janecka.

In the apartment across the hall, a laptop was stolen.

"It was pretty ransacked. All the drawers were open. Stuff was thrown all over my bed. My closet, everything was kind of thrown around," said Rogers.

The burglaries have left victims questioning apartment security.

"Traveling for the holidays doesn't feel safe. Leaving my stuff here to visit my parents isn't something I really want to do," Janecka said.

Management here sent out a letter to residents saying they're beefing up security immediately.
