HISD student accused of bringing gun to class charged, arrested

A Houston Independent School District student was arrested Monday for bringing an unloaded gun to class, police said.

18-year-old Tyree Harper, a Reach Charter High School student, is charged with carrying a prohibited weapon in a prohibited place .

No bond was set for Harper. He is expected in court Wednesday.

He will also face disciplinary action, the district said in the following statement:

"A Reach Charter High School student was arrested Monday and charged with unlawfully carrying a weapon. In addition to criminal charges, the student also will face appropriate disciplinary action."

Harper was previously charged with aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon in a separate case.
