3 HISD schools with names tied to Confederacy to be renamed

HOUSTON – The Houston Independent School District approved the resolution to begin the process of renaming three more schools with ties to the Confederacy.

The district made the decision Thursday.

The three schools are Albert Sidney Johnston Middle School, Sidney Lanier Middle School and Jefferson Davis High School.

Last month HISD voted to rename Grady Middle School, Dowling Middle School and Jackson Middle School, along with Lee High School.

Reagan High School could also get a new name. It's not expected to go before the board until after a community meeting scheduled for Tuesday.
