A high-speed police chase in northwest Harris County ended with a violent crash and one person in the hospital.
Officers said the chase started on Durban near Clay Road around 12:45 a.m. Friday when police spotted a Dodge Caravan driving with no headlights. Police made a traffic stop, but investigators said when officers approached the minivan, the driver took off.
The driver led police on a chase reaching speeds of up to 100 mph along Beltway 8 and Highway 290. Police said the driver eventually lost control and crashed about eight miles away on Jones Road. The minivan slammed into a fence, went airborne and crashed upside down.
The driver was flown by Life Flight to the hospital in serious, but stable condition. Investigators said they're working to find out whether alcohol was involved.
