HOUSTON -

A police chase came to a violent end when the suspects crashed a stolen car into a tree in southwest Houston.

Police said they spotted a vehicle that matched the description of a stolen car on Bellaire Boulevard near Synott. When police tried to pull the driver over, investigators said he took off.

Police said the suspect was speeding down Westbranch near Bellaire when the road curved and the car slammed into a tree.

There were four people inside the vehicle.

Police said the driver was pinned in and had to be rescued by Houston firefighters.

All the suspects were taken to the hospital. Two were taken to the hospital in serious condition and the other two had minor injuries.
