There is a second chance for a cat that was recently tortured. While the SPCA is offering $5,000 to help whoever left her with burns, she's getting love and state of the art treatment.
Amelia is a pretty lucky girl. With her T-shirt on, Amelia the cat is ready for her treatment.
The folks at Gulf Coast Veterinary Specialists stepped in to help after someone set her on fire and left her to die.
"Hyperbaric oxygen therapy actually improves wound healing," said Dr. Colleen Willms. "It hastens the process because it delivers oxygen to the injured tissue in the absence of even blood supply."
The system, originally meant to treat scuba divers, is now being used to give Amelia's immune system a boost.
Cleaned up and cone on, Amelia will be getting two treatments a day for a few days, and what is her prognosis after a few more sessions in this state of the art hyperbolic chamber?
"Oh, very good," Willms said. "Excellent."
