WALKER COUNTY – There are new developments in the search for a killer who took the lives of a grandmother and a toddler in the Huntsville area. After releasing few details in the case, investigators are now reaching out to the public for help tracking down the murderer.
When detectives first found the bodies of 18-month-old Aiyden Lewis and his 55-year-old grandmother Shanta Crawford, they had few clues to work with. Now the Walker County Sheriff's Office is asking for the public's help in both the Huntsville and Dallas areas.
Detectives say while most family members lived in the Huntsville area, Aiyden's father lives in the Dallas area.
At this point detectives aren't saying they have a suspect, but did tell Local 2, "These homicides appear to have been personal in nature and therefore we believe were committed by an individual(s) known to the family, who may have expressed discontent and/or an actual or perceived grievance with the family."
Detectives are specifically looking to speak with people who knew family members in both the Huntsville and Dallas areas. Detectives also cautioned that whoever committed these murders may be paying close attention to the investigation and media coverage, prompting them to change the car they drive and their daily routines.
Nearly 10 agencies, including the Walker County Sheriff's Office, Texas Rangers, FBI, the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office and Arlington and Huntsville police departments, are assisting with this investigation.
