Help needed to solve 1994 slaying

HOUSTON – Deputies need help solving a cold case killing.

Jack Pierce, 39, was found dead behind a Red Lobster in the 300 block of F.M. 1960 on Nov. 25, 1994.

Harris County sheriff's deputies said Pierce had been stabbed in the back and chest eight times. Investigators said they believe Pierce was stabbed at a nearby location before he drove himself to the restaurant where he was found.

Relatives said Pierce was on his way to his mother's home for Thanksgiving when he was killed. Pierce left behind a wife and three children.

"Every Thanksgiving, every birthday -- I really don't look forward to it," said Melanie Pierce-Gross, Pierce's daughter. "We got a call that my dad was murdered and it was just downhill from there."

Pierce-Gross said the tragic news came on the same day she wanted to tell her dad that she was pregnant.

"I didn't get a chance to tell him that I was pregnant with his first grandchild," she said. "He would've been a really good grandfather. He was a really good dad."

Anyone with information regarding Pierce's death is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
