Local and federal authorities are asking for help as they search for a fugitive believed to be in the Houston area.
Crime Stoppers and special agents with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) are searching for 40-year-old Eduardo MOYAO-Cuevas who is an undocumented immigrant.
Officials said in August 2012, MOYAO and co-conspirators allegedly held multiple undocumented aliens in a southwest Houston house and attempted to extort their family members for thousands of dollars. After executing a search warrant at the house, special agents found juveniles and women. One of the women had been reportedly raped, authorities said.
MOYAO was identified as one of the hostage takers and men responsible for extorting the families. He is charged with federal hostage taking and gun charges.
Police described MOYAO, also known as "LALO," as a Hispanic man who is about 5 feet 7 inches tall and 170 pounds.
Authorities say MOYAO is believed to be in Houston-area and also has ties to Mexico and Hardeeville, South Carolina.
