Heavy rains cause flooding, power outages

HOUSTON – After severe weather pounded the Houston area overnight, people across the city woke up to power outages and flooding.

As of 6:30 a.m. Friday, CenterPoint Energy reported just over 5,000 customers without power. Entergy reported roughly 4,000 customers had lost power.

The heavy overnight rains will likely have a big impact on the ride to work. High water was reported in several areas around town.
