HOUSTON -

A man is recovering in the hospital after he was shot multiple times by his wife.

Harris County deputies were called to Imperial Valley at Bammel in North Houston around 11:10 Friday night. According to investigators, the man and his wife were sitting in an SUV at the intersection when they started fighting.

Deputies said at some point during that argument, the woman pulled out a semi-automatic gun and shot her husband. The SUV was still in gear as the man fell out of the vehicle.

The SUV started to roll and eventually came to a stop in a field after hitting a tree.

The husband managed to stumble across the road to a Little Caesars Pizza where he was able to get help.

Deputies said the wife fled the scene, but was eventually found and arrested.

The husband was transported to Ben Taub in serious but stable condition.

The names of the husband and wife were not immediately released.
