HCSO: Man shoots woman in face with BB gun

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas – The Harris County Sheriff's Office is looking for the man who shot a woman in the face as she tried to get money out of an ATM Thursday night.

Investigators said the woman was in her car and trying to get money out of an ATM at the Smart Financial Credit Union on FM 1960 near Imperial Valley in north Harris County around 9:30 p.m.

According to deputies, the woman had driven up to the ATM and had reached out of her car window to enter her pin number when the man shot her with a high-powered BB gun in the face.

Another vehicle pulled up to the ATM, and deputies say that's when the gunman took off.

The victim's sister said she believes the shooter was trying to rob her, but the other vehicle possibly scared off the gunman before he could take any cash.

"Then she backed up and the ATM sucked the money. So nobody was trying to take the money, I just think it was more like an attempt to," said the victim's sister. "But I think because of her reaction, I think they just run on and sped off."

Paramedics treated the woman and released her.

The victim says she did not get a good look at the suspect or the getaway car.

"The safety and soundness and security of our members, and especially anyone using our ATM's -- we take very seriously," said Linda Webster, executive vice president at Smart Financial Credit Union.

There is light around the ATM at night and after the incident security will be increased.

According to Smart Financial, this is the first time something like this has happened.
