HCSO: Man shoots teen home invasion suspect

HOUSTON – A homeowner fought back when a teenager broke into a north Harris County house, detectives said.

Harris County sheriff's deputies said the break-in happened on Silver Bell Drive near Kathi Ann Lane about 8:45 a.m. on Wednesday.

Detectives said Cecilio Semis old got into the home through a back window.

The homeowner was in an upstairs bedroom heard the break-in and grabbed a gun, investigators said. He went to the top of the stairs and shot Semis twice, deputies said.

"He discharged the gun multiple times," Sgt. Eric Batton said. "He was shot once in the side and the chest."

Semis was taken to Ben Taub Hospital in serious but stable condition.

Neighbor Armando Perez said he thinks the homeowner did the right thing.

"If somebody wanted to break into my house, I would probably do the same thing," he said.

Semis has been charged with burglary of a habitation.

Detectives said the homeowner will not face any charges.
