HCSO: Cash, soap stolen during home invasion

CHANNELVIEW, Texas – A mother and daughter were tied up during a home invasion in Channelview on Monday, investigators said.

Harris County sheriff's deputies said the attack happened in the 15400 block of South Street shortly after 6:30 a.m.

The homeowner said he thinks the men who attacked his family were waiting for him to leave for work.

Investigators said four masked men armed with guns, a bat and a stick barged into the home and demanded $50,000.

Three children were inside the home at the time of the attack, deputies said. A 13-year-old girl was getting ready for school when the robbers grabbed her and tied her with a cellphone charger, investigators said.

The mother was also tied up and had a gun held to her head while her 1-year-old was screaming, detectives said.

Deputies said the robbers went through every room of the home searching for valuables. They got away with about $1,000, the mother's clothing and a bar of soap, investigators said.

"It's weird because … they took the soap, like for the shower," the homeowner said.

Descriptions of the attackers have not been released.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
