Highway 288 feeder road reopens after olive oil spill

Crews used sand to soak up slick

HOUSTON – Lanes of the Highway 288 feeder road reopened late Thursday morning after an olive oil spill blocked them earlier in the day.

The incident happened at 4:30 a.m. at the intersection of Almeda Genoa Road.

According to the Texas Department of Transportation workers at the scene, the spill was a mixture of both olive oil and another non-hazardous substance.

Sand was dumped on the spill to soak up the liquid.

By 10:40 a.m., the lanes had been reopened.
