Halloween-masked men rob Whataburger

BAYTOWN, Texas – Two men wore Halloween masks when they robbed a fast-food restaurant, investigators said.

Baytown police said the armed men held up the Whataburger in the 5100 block of the East Freeway about 10:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Detectives said the men ordered everyone inside the restaurant to get down. Two of the four employees on duty hid in a freezer, police said.

The men jumped the counter and ordered the manager to go to the office and get money. They took about $2,000, investigators said.

Investigators said the men took two customers' cellphones, but those were found near a rear exit.

The men were both described as black, in their mid to late 20s and 5 feet 8 inches to 5 feet 9 inches tall with thin builds. They wore dark-colored hooded sweatshirts and black gloves. One of them wore a green Halloween mask and the other wore a Halloween mask with blood on the front.

Police said they're checking to see if they are the same men who robbed a McDonald's on Monday. In that robbery, the thieves demanded the manager hand open a safe. About $4,000 was taken.

Anyone with information is asked to call Baytown Crime Stoppers at 281-427-TIPS.
