Parts of Gulf Freeway to close for weekend due to construction

HOUSTON – Parts of the Gulf Freeway will be closed to traffic this weekend due to constructions, officials said. 

Several detours have been set up to help drivers get around.

Southbound lanes of the freeway from FM 518 to FM 517 in League City/Dickinson will be closed from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday.

The detour will have traffic exit FM 518 and continue to the entrance ramp south of FM 517.

Two alternative northbound lanes from FM 528/W NASA Parkway to Scarsdale Boulevard will be closed from 9 p.m. Friday. to 5 a.m. Monday. 

The Northbound entrance and exit ramp from FM 528/W NASA Parkway to Scarsdale will also be closed from 9 p.m.Friday to 5 a.m. Monday.  Drivers are asked to detour at the next available ramp.

“The City of League City is taking extra measures to prepare for the impact this closure will have,” said City Manager, John Baumgartner. “We have planned to position extra emergency staff in areas we know will be most impacted by expected heavy traffic.”
