Grandmother charged with kidnapping four-month-old

Robin Lavois charged with kidnapping

PASADENA, Texas – A woman accused of kidnapping her own granddaughter has been charged.

An Amber Alert issued when police said Robin Lavois took Kaitlyn Lavois from a day care in the 600 block of Fairmont Parkway on Friday. Lavois did not have permission to take Kaitlyn, officials said. They had last been seen in the Baytown area about 9:30 p.m., investigators said.

Detectives said the baby and grandmother were found on Saturday morning.

Lavois has been charged with kidnapping.

Kaitlyn's father, Jonathan, said when they heard their baby had been taken, they looked everywhere for Robin.

"We we out on the road til about 2 or so last night, scouring Baytown, Pasadena, looking for any sign where she could be hiding up or just getting any kind of information we can. Alerting the health clinics." said Jonathan. "She made a comment the baby was sick or something like that."

Jonathan said the baby appeared to be fine, but she was taken to a hospital as a precaution.

Lavois has a criminal history that includes charges of violating a protective order, assault of a family member and evading arrest. All of those charges were in 2007.
