WORCESTER, England – Wednesday marks the beginning of the Lenten season which, for many liturgical Christian denominations, represents the solemn six-week period before Easter Sunday. However, the eve of Lent is traditionally a day celebrated with fun games and plenty of sweets.
One church in England celebrates Shrove Tuesday -- also known as Fat Tuesday -- with pancakes and an annual pancake race.
This year, the dean of the Worcester Cathedral Choir strapped on a GoPro camera to give a fun perspective of the fast-paced event.
Competitors sprint through the halls of the cathedral's campus, holding skillets and flipping the pancakes until they hand off the skillet to one of their relay teammates. The team to finish the course first -- without dropping their pancake -- wins.
Check out the video below from the church's Facebook page that has hundreds of thousands of views and nearly 4,000 shares.
