The good Samaritan called Sector Houston-Galveston watchstanders and reported watching the sailboat turn-over and seeing the man swimming towards the shore. The son was able to right the boat, but his father was already out of sight.

An hour later, the same good Samaritan who made the initial report found the man in the water about a mile from where the sailboat had capsized.

The man was transferred to the Station Galveston response boat and taken to Coast Guard Station Galveston. His son was taken back to meet with his father by Galveston police.

Neither of the men were injured, and both men were wearing life jackets.
