HOUSTON -

A man was arrested in southwest Houston after police said he tried to force his way into his ex-girlfriend's home with a gun.

Houston police said the couple had been arguing over the phone just before the violent confrontation at the home on Charleston Park Drive and South Main.

Officials said the man got to her front door and attempted to kick it down.  When that did not work, he pulled out a gun and tried to shoot his way inside.

The woman was so frightened by the gunshots, she jumped out of a second story window.

Authorities said the man ended up with a minor gunshot wound to the back of the head.

Police arrested the man, who will likely be charged with aggravated assault.

The ex-girlfriend suffered cuts from broken glass.

Police said the couple does have a child together, but that child was not home at the time of the incident.

Investigators said the couple had a documented history of disputes.
