Officials said a man driving a pickup hit a little girl riding her bike in northwest Harris County.
The 8-year-old girl was hit around 7 p.m. Tuesday, according to investigators. The accident left the girl's bike wedged under a pickup.
According to Harris County sheriff's investigators, the girl and a friend were riding on Pine Center Drive. One girl safely made it across Royal Gardens Drive, and the other did not.
"The driver of a truck that was traveling southbound on Royal Gardens either didn't see her or she pulled out in front of him," Sgt. Mike Harvey said. "He struck her with the truck and ran over her."
LifeFlight flew the girl to Memorial Hermann Hospital in critical condition.
Investigators said the driver of the pickup stayed and fully cooperated with the investigation.
An investigator said he did not believe speed or alcohol played a role in this accident.
