Get tips to save while shopping online

HOUSTON – Ready or not, the holiday shopping season is here and there are some online tricks that can help stretch your holiday budge even further.

"I am an avid online shopper. I have my blog and I love a good deal," style and fashion blogger Brooke Wise said.

She offered some simple tips that will save you money when you shop online.

"I will never check out without looking for a promo code," said Wise.

The Houstonian recommended using websites like www.retailmenot.com to search for coupon codes before buying.

"Nine out of 10 times before I check out, if I look for one I will find one that will give me a few dollars off," said Wise.

KPRC Local 2 discovered if shoppers leave items in their cart while shopping online and don't check out, retailers may email them a discount to get them to complete the purchase.

Overstock.com offered $30 off $300 on an order left in an online shopping cart. It took just a couple of hours for Pro-Flowers to offer an extra 10 percent off to complete a Thanksgiving flower order.

Not all retailers come back with the extra offer and shoppers have to go far enough into the order to get offered the discount.

Look for websites offering free shipping and returns and sign up to receive emails from stores to learn about added online holiday savings.

Wise also suggested using websites and apps that compare prices to other websites to check for the best deal before you buy.

"Our schedules our busy now and online is place to shop these days. I can say most of my friends shop online, too, so we are always looking for the good deals," said Wise.
