GCSO: Men jump out of second-story window in drug bust

TEXAS CITY, Texas – A drug bust in Texas City ended with two suspects jumping out of a second-story window.

The Galveston County Sheriff's Office's Special Crimes Unit executed a narcotics search and arrest warrant Monday night at an apartment located at 3501 25th Ave N.

Deputies said when the team went into the apartment, Reginald Van Horton and Tommy Merchant jumped out the second-story bedroom window.

The sheriff's office said the pair had minor cuts after the jump. Both were treated for their injuries at Mainland Center Hospital before being placed into the Galveston County jail.

In all, three suspects were arrested.

Horton, 30, was charged with two counts of manufacture and delivery of controlled substance. His bond was set at $250,000 on each charge.

Merchant, 49, was charged with possession of an controlled substance. His bond was set at $60,000.

Robin Wiley, 26, was also charged with manufacture and delivery of controlled substance. Her bond was set at $20,000.

The sheriff's office said Horton had been under investigation for over a month for selling crack cocaine and heroin from his residence.

Detectives said they recovered a total of 22.4 grams of heroin and 7.6 grams crack cocaine in the drug bust. They said they also recovered digital scales, packaging material and $829 in cash.
