Galveston police search for 2 armed robbers

GALVESTON – Galveston police are searching for two men who were behind at least two armed robberies Thursday night.

The first robbery happened at 10:45 p.m. near 21st Street and Mechanic Ave. A couple called police after two men held them up at gunpoint. The couple said the robbers drove up next to them in a small, four-door car. The men got out of the car and pulled out guns, demanding their wallet and purse.

The victims said the men then got back in their car and drove southbound on 21st. The victims told police the men were between 20 and 30 years old, had slender builds, and were wearing black hoodies.

Police believe those same two men were involved in another armed robbery about 10 minutes later. The victims flagged an officer down near the intersection of 23rd and Market Avenue. They told the officer the men pulled out guns and demanded their wallets.

Police said the descriptions given by these victims matched the descriptions in the previous robbery. The victims in the second robbery said the men were driving a silver Toyota Corolla. The victims told police that the suspects fled southbound on 24th in the vehicle.
