Galveston police charge man with kidnapping, sexual assault, robbery

GALVESTON, Texas – A 32-year-old man has been charged with aggravated robbery, aggravated kidnapping and aggravated sexual assault for an attack over the weekend.

Faculty members, staff and students at Galveston College all received the same text message after the scary incident on campus Sunday.

The message was a warning after a sexual assault and an abduction at an ATM around 12:40 a.m.

Police said the victim was abducted while using the ATM at 4015 Ave. Q.

The investigation is being handled by the Family Services Unit. Detectives have identified a person of interest in the case. Anyone with information regarding this incident is urged to contact Detective Jeffrey Banks at 409-765-3776.

The Galveston Police Department asks the public to remember the following:

  • Pay close attention to your surroundings
  • Choose an ATM in a well-lit and high-traffic area
  • If possible, visit the ATM during the daytime with a friend
  • Call police if you notice anything suspicious.
