Man who tried to kidnap girl may have harassed other women at Memorial Park

HOUSTONA mother of two was left shaking with fear at Memorial Park after a strange encounter with a man who may have harassed another woman at the park just moments before. Summer Monahan arrived at the park Wednesday morning ready to teach her physical fitness class for new moms like herself. She said she left after a man in a pickup truck started acting strangely -- walking in circles around her vehicle and trying to talk to her. Monahan said he returned and did the same to one of her friends.

"He was asking us what an oak tree looked like," Monahan said. "The next minute he was saying that his daughter was kidnapped and we needed to help find the daughter."

Monahan's experience occurred just about 30 minutes after a man fitting a similar description -- also in a red pickup truck -- displayed strange behavior and approached another woman. He told her the daughter she was walking with was his and he wanted her. He followed her until she drove to a nearby police station. Both incidents have left Summer Monahan thinking about protection for her and her class.

"I am trying to get in touch with a self-defense coordinator," she said. "Someone to come in and speak to us and teach us self-defense so just in case this happens again."

The man is described as a white male in his in his early 30s, about 5' 9" and 160 pounds. He was wearing a gray hoodie, black hat, and blue jeans. The vehicle he was driving was described as a red Dodge pickup truck with a possible Texas license plate of CYL 4342.
