HOUSTON – Part of the East Freeway near downtown Houston will be closed this weekend.
The Texas Department of Transportation said all westbound lanes of the East Freeway at Waco Street will be closed from 9 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. Monday. Traffic will be detoured to the feeder road.

The closure will allow crews to repair the Waco Street bridge, which was hit by a truck in December.
Officials said other closures will be necessary to complete the repairs:
One eastbound lane will be closed from 9 p.m. Friday until 3 p.m. Saturday.
The westbound entrance ramp from Lockwood will be closed from 9 p.m. Friday until 3 p.m. Saturday.
Waco Street northbound and southbound at the East Freeway will be closed from 9 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. Monday.
TxDOT urged motorists who plan to be in the area during the closure to seek another route.
