Former elementary school PTO president being investigated after money goes missing from fund

CONROE, Texas – Serious allegations are surrounding a former PTO president at an elementary school in Conroe.

On Tuesday, we found out that person is being investigated by the district.

Sources tell us it all stems from missing money for the San Jacinto Elementary PTO fund to the tune of as much as $10,000.

Those same sources said the discovery was made during the 2015-2016 school year, and it's believed some of the money may have gone to personal expenses just before that the former PTO president quit their job -- both with the organization and the district.

Now, we're told the PTO is having to do extra fundraising to make up the money that was suppose to be for the students and school.

The district released a statement about the matter only saying:

"Conroe ISD along with the Conroe ISD Police Department is currently in the process of investigating a former PTO president at San Jacinto Elementary. The individual is a former employee of the District."

We did reach out to parents in the district who gave us their thoughts about the ongoing investigation.

Andre Huff, a parent explained, "It's definitely worrying. Makes you want to keep a tighter look at what's going on at your school for sure."

Mark Hamilton, a Conroe resident, said, "I hope that they don't swept it under the rug. I hope that they do something about it. That's the way I look at it. These children here today are our future and if we don't take care of our future, who is?"

We did reach out to that former PTO president for a comment on this story, but she never called us back.

Our sources, tell us there is an audit underway by the district.
