Houston's Holiday Celebration, Tree lighting features former Destiny's Child Michelle Williams

HOUSTON – Former Destiny's Child Michelle Williams will be one of many artists to attend the 97th Annual Mayor’s Holiday Celebration and Tree Lighting on Friday night.

The free event will be held at City Hall in Hermann Square from 6 to 8 p.m.

“I can’t think of a better way to celebrate the holiday season than with the community coming together and enjoying an evening of music, dancing and special appearances,” Turner said. “As my first official Holiday Celebration as mayor of Houston, I am privileged to be a part of such a long-standing tradition, and want to thank Reliant and all of our sponsors who have continued to make this event truly memorable.”

The holiday tradition has music, fireworks and family fun. There will also be a massive holiday tree shimmering with lights, ornaments and a shining star.

The concert will also feature “The Voice” singer RaeLynn, SVET, an electro hip-hop violinist as seen on “America’s Got Talent"; and many other talented artists.

For the children, Santa will be assisting Mayor Turner in lighting the official holiday tree and igniting fireworks.

The public is invited to bring a new, unwrapped toy to the Salvation Army booth to brighten a child’s holiday this year. Each person who brings a toy will receive a light-up Santa hat from Reliant.
