Former Crystal Beach volunteer fire chief surrenders

David Loop is accused of stealing thousands of dollars from the Crystal Beach Volunteer Fire Department.

GALVESTON COUNTY, Texas - An ex-fire chief accused of stealing more than $70,000 from the Crystal Beach Volunteer Fire Department turned himself into authorities Monday.

Last week, a Galveston County jury indicted David Loop on felony theft charges. Among other things, he;'s accused of using the department's credit card to charge more than $25,000 at a Louisiana casino.

Loop has since bonded out and was released.
