Ford said there could be a problem with child locks in some of its vehicles.
The automaker is recalling nearly 13,000 cars and SUVs because the child locks on the rear doors could fail, allowing kids to unlock and even open the back doors from the inside.
The Explorer, the Taurus and the Lincoln MKS are the vehicles being recalled, all model year 2013.
Dealers will replace faulty locks for free.
Federal investigators are taking a closer look at some Mercedes C-Class sedans because of complaints about smelling smoke and finding burn marks in the trunk, possibly because of a wiring related problem.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is investigating more than 200,000 C-Class models from 2008 and 2009.
Owners said their brake lights and turn signals failed, and some could smell smoke.
One person reported small flames in the trunk.
There's no recall at the time, but this preliminary evaluation could lead to one, if investigators determine there's a safety issue.
