HOUSTON – DirectTV is adding a new channel called DOGTV that's for dogs only.

Beginning on Aug. 1, DOGTV says your pup can watch short videos of relaxing shows with soothing music and sounds, as well as stimulating videos of other animals and moving objects. There will also be exposure programming to help dogs cop with day-to-day sounds and images.

The content, says DOGTV, was created to enhance picture details and use special sound effects tailored to canines.

The volume level is pre-adjusted to match the unique hearing abilities of dogs.

The channel is designed for all breeds.

The service will be free to DirecTV subscribers until Aug. 14. After that, there will be a $4.99 monthly charge.
