Flash Flood Watch today through Wednesday

HOUSTON – A flash flood watch is in effect for all of southeast Texas beginning at noon Tuesday lasting through Wednesday evening.

Be prepared for wet, slow roads with cool temperatures.  Umbrellas and rain coats are a must.

An area of low pressure will get stuck in Texas and will bring 2 to 5 inches of rain throughout with isolated amounts up to 7 inches.

Tuesday will be rainy and cool with 1 to 3 inches of precipitation area wide. The ground will get saturated so any additional heavy rain can easily produce flooding.  Bayous and Creeks can easily handle  3 to 4 inches of rain but if we get more that will be a concern.

Some of our smaller watersheds like Halls Bayou and South Mayde Creek need to be monitored because the smaller watersheds fill up faster.  We'll get street flooding with some fairly deep ponding.  Driving will be inconvenient at the least and possibly dangerous as the rain amounts pile up.

There is also enough shear and instability in our atmosphere to produce a handful of tornadoes.  Please pay close attention to the weather the next two days.  We'll keep you informed to keep you and your family safe.  If any flooding or severe weather occurs, we'll let you know immediately.
