Storms moving through the Houston area Thursday afternoon brought high winds, lightning and heavy rain that led to street flooding.
A Flash Flood Warning for Harris County expired at 6:30 p.m.
Storms moving through the area produced up to three inches of rain. Street flooding was prevalent in west Houston.
Our Memorial City Cam spotted street flooding on S. Gessner near Memorial City Mall. We also received reports of trees down at Memorial and Strey Road.
A Local 2 Facebook fan posted a photo of lightning striking the Williams Tower in the Galleria area.
In Porter, winds uprooted a tree nearly 50 feet high. The massive pine tree toppled over into the street, completely blocking Redbird Lane near Ravenwing Dr.
The homeowner wasn't home when it happened, but neighbors they say they can't believe the winds were able to down a healthy tree.
An earlier Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Harris and Fort Bend counties expired at 5:30 p.m.
