Five teenagers have been arrested in connection with a violent crime spree in northwest Harris County.
The Harris County Sheriff's Office said the teens, ranging from 14 to 17 years of age, are responsible for at least two armed carjackings and one home burglary.
Local 2 spoke with one of the victims. The 24-year-old woman said she whispered, "They're coming, they're coming," to 911 call takers as she hid in a bedroom closet. She woke up as she heard the back windows and door of her home shattering. For her safety, she asked that we not reveal her identity.
"If they had heard, they might have done something. I was just afraid," she said.
Thieves ransacked her son's room, just feet away from where she was hiding out alone, at her home on Bonnie Chase Lane. She says she hid for about 15 minutes as sheriff's deputies were on their way.
"I was just trying not to make any noise because I was afraid that they were going to shoot me or something," she said.
"Look at this door. There is no lock on the closet door. She says she believes her faith protected her," said her husband.
"I know it was God protecting me," she said.
When deputies arrived, they arrested two suspects inside the house. One was arrested outside the house.
According to deputies, in the carjacking crimes the thieves shot the victims, who are expected to make full recoveries.
One carjacking happened Monday. Deputies responded to a home in the 7200 block of Battle Hills Drive after a woman reported being carjacked by an armed man. The woman was loading items into her car in her garage when she was shot by the gunman who then drove off in her vehicle.
The woman was taken to an area hospital and is expected to be OK.
Deputies in the area also arrested two other suspects who were in the vehicle stolen from the woman on Battle Hills earlier in the day.
The oldest suspect is 17-year-old Christopher Do. The other four are minors. One is 14. One is 15. The other two are 16. Their mugshots were not released because they are minors.
All five are charged with aggravated robbery and burglary of a habitation.
