SAN ANTONIO – Earlier this month, the Texas Alcohol Beverage Commission reported Texans consumed an estimated 55 million gallons of alcohol in the month of May.
Now, first-quarter mixed beverage receipts from the Texas Comptroller's Office reveal which Texas cities may have contributed the most to the startling figure.

According to first-quarter mixed beverage tax receipts from the months of January to March, Houston led the state with $233 million in alcohol sales -- No surprise from the most populated city in Texas.
San Antonio, on the other hand, was bested by Austin and Dallas, coming in fourth for alcohol sales at $106 million despite being the second-most populated city in the state.
The numbers, however, reflect spending for the months of January through March, leaving out San Antonio's alcohol sales during Fiesta.
