Robbers stab Houston woman in neck to steal purse

HOUSTON – A Houston woman is recovering after knife-wielding robbers stabbed her in the neck for her purse.

Erricos Durham was inside his heights townhome when someone yelling for help started ringing his doorbell.

"Looked through the door, she was here on the ground and the young man was beating her and also had a knife to her neck," said Durham.

Durham ran to grab his gun.

"By the time I came outside he had dragged her through the lawn and she ended up over here in this ditch," said Durham.

Houston police tell Local 2 the 27-year-old woman was walking home from Washington Avenue around 10 p.m.

She was alone and two men in a pickup truck started to follow her near the intersection of Maxie and Malone.  One of the men jumped out and started beating her and sliced her neck with the knife. They took off with her purse and left their weapon on the lawn.

Police are asking residents to be aware of what's going on around you and don't walk alone.
