HOUSTON -

Police officers swarmed a northwest Houston apartment complex Wednesday night after a fight broke out between families over a child’s bicycle.

Houston police were called to the Pines of Northwest Crossing just before 6 p.m.

Authorities said one family claimed children who live in the complex stole their son’s bike that he had just received as a Christmas gift.

When they confronted the parents of the suspected thieves, police said things got ugly and a fight broke out.

Officials said several people were taken to the hospital, including two police officers who suffered minor injuries while trying to break up the fight.

Police arrested one person at the scene.

Authorities said in the process of responding to the fight, one officer was involved in a car accident and was taken to the hospital in unknown condition.
