Man robs Shenandoah bank wearing "Scream" mask

SHENANDOAH, Texas – A man wearing a mask from the popular thriller movie "Scream" robbed a bank in Shenandoah on Friday morning, said police.

It happened at the Prosperity Bank located at 1430 Research Forest Drive just after 8 a.m. on Friday.

According to Shenandoah police, a man dressed in all black, wearing a hoodie and a "Scream" mask, hid in the bushes at the bank entrance and then ambushed an employee who was walking in for work.

"We believe the suspect may have been hiding in the bushes for some time, placed a gun in her back and forced her inside the bank," said A. Bryan Carlisle, the assistant chief of police with the Shenandoah police.

Police said three bank employees were inside the building during the robbery and handed the bank robber cash as he held them up at gunpoint.

"According to the witnesses, or the victims in this case, he was very calm, did not get agitated, seemed to know what he was doing, got the money, got out," said Carlisle.

The bank robber reportedly ran across Research Forest Drive with the money and got away.

"This guy, it appears that he may be involved in some other bank robberies in the Houston area. He's gotten very confident, and we need to get him stopped as soon as possible," said Carlisle.

Shenandoah police will be increasing patrol activities at all local banks. Police are available to escort employees to and from the parking areas prior to and after the close of business each workday.

The man is described as 6 feet 1 inch to 6 feet 3 inches tall, weighing 170 to 190 pounds, with a soft voice and medium frame. He was armed with a black semi-automatic pistol.
