FBI: Search warrants executed for human trafficking investigation

HOUSTON – The FBI says multiple government and law enforcement agencies are executing search and arrest warrants at several locations around Houston.

Shauna Dunlap with the FBI says the agency along with the Department of Homeland Security, Texas Department of Public Safety, IRS and Houston Police Department are involved with the search warrants. She did confirm that one of the locations is on Telephone Road.

Dunlap says the documents are sealed and that she cannot release any information as to the subject of the search warrants.

The FBI now tells us the arrests are the result of one of the largest investigations of Houston's human trafficking task force.

Neighbors say the raid started about 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. One man shot a video and said 12 people were taken into custody.

The witness said four or five of the people taken in appeared to be underage girls wearing plastic handcuffs.

The signs on the building read, "Nuevo Amancer", Spanish for "New Dawn". Another sign says the "New Back Door Club".

Men wearing Army fatigues stood holding guns on the perimeter of the operation at Telephone and Moline in southeast Houston.
