FBI raids Dannenbaum Engineering in Houston, other offices in Laredo

HOUSTON – An engineering firm office in Houston was raided by the FBI Wednesday.

The FBI said agents were 'lawfully present' at Dannenbaum Engineering at 3100 West Alabama street around 12:30 p.m. Agents were conducting a 'lawful law enforcement operation.'

The FBI told KPRC2 it doesn't anticipate making any arrests, and that business will operate as normal once agents are finished.

No further details about the operation were released.

Agents are also at the Laredo City Hall Annex, the Laredo Public Works Department and a Webb County office, FBI spokeswoman Michelle Lee told KSAT.com.

"There is no public safety threat," Lee told KSAT. She wouldn't elaborate on what the agents were doing at the offices.

A Dannenbaum Engineering spokesperson released the following statement in response to the raid:

“Dannenbaum Engineering, one of the state’s premier firms for infrastructure planning and design, is cooperating with federal authorities regarding government requests for information. Company management is investigating the basis of the government requests. We are uncertain whether the inquiry is focused on the company’s activities or those of its business competitors. We intend to comment further when appropriate.”

Dannenbaum Engineering has offices in Houston, Dallas, Austin, Laredo, El Paso, Fort Worth, McAllen and San Antonio.

According to the company's website, Dannenbaum was involved in several segments of the Sam Houston Parkway and toll roads in Harris County, land developments in the Clear Lake area, road segments of Bush Intercontinental Airport connectors and the Barbers Cut Terminal container yard.
