HOUSTON – Two masked men terrorized employees and customers when they held up a northwest Harris County bank on Friday, officials said.
FBI officials described the robbery at the Wells Fargo Bank on F.M. 1960 near Cutten Road about noon as being takeover-style.
Detectives said the robbers rushed into the bank waving guns. The men ordered everyone to get down on the floor before they went through the tellers' cages, scooping up cash, investigators said.
The men were in and out within a few minutes, officials said.
A short time after investigators arrived, a witness reported that some of the loot was laying in the street about a block away. FBI agents said they found a stack of $20 bills behind a nearby Chase Bank.
A hole had been cut through the center of the cash, officials said. Investigators said the robbers cut that hole to find an electronic tracking device that had been planted in the middle of the stack. That tracker was found laying near the money, officials said.
Detectives have not said exactly how much money the robbers stole.
