Father charged, 2 sons found safe after Amber Alert

HOUSTON – Officials said a Houston father has been charged in the alleged kidnapping of his two sons.

An Amber Alert was cancelled early Thursday morning after 1-year-old Jayce Teel and 4-year-old were found safe.

The Harris County Sheriff's Office said the children were with their mother, Jasmine Porter, when they were abducted at gunpoint by their biological father, Jeremy Teel. Officials said Teel discharged his weapon at the time of the abduction on Wednesday.

Overnight deputies interviewed several people and continued their searched for the missing kids.

The children were finally found at a home investigators said might be connected to the case.

"When he took the kids he fired shots at the mother and fled the scene with the kids," said Sgt. Robert Spurgeon, of the Harris County sheriff's office.

Deputies said the father is charged with aggravated assault and is being held in the Harris County Jail, but refuses to reveal the location of the boys.

Teel was arrested at the Chevron gas station on West Little York.

Police were looking for Teel's pregnant girlfriend, Jasmine Scott, who Porter believed has the children.

Porter told Local 2 that Scott was with Teel when the incident happened.

Porter said there has been an ongoing domestic dispute between them for years but she never expected this.

"It's never been to the extent it is today. It's never gotten this bad," Porter said.

According to Porter, she and Teel have argued in the past about custody issues and child support and the two had a court date on July 8 to discuss the issues, but Teel never showed up.

Porter said that was the last time she spoke to Teel before Wednesday.

"I still don't know where my children are, if they're OK, if they've been fed. My baby's been sick and I don't know if he'll be OK," Porter said.

Investigators have charged Teel with aggravated assault on a family member after firing a weapon. He is being held without bond and is expected in court on Friday.
