HOUSTON -

A family is pleading with police for answers after their 17-year-old son was found dead in the Houston Ship Channel.

Family gathered with community activist Quanell X at the spot where Antonio Saldivar's car was found wrecked and abandoned on Feb. 15.

Saldivar was found dead in the Houston Ship Channel two weeks later.

His cause of death is still pending, but now the family wants new investigators assigned in hopes that they can solve the mystery of how the teenager ended up in the water.

"We would like (HPD) Chief Charles McClelland to appoint new homicide investigators, seasoned investigators who will show this family the respect that it deserves," said Quanell X.

Local 2 contacted the Houston Police Department, but they have yet to comment on the investigation.
