Family searches for reckless driver who nearly killed them

HOUSTON – Members of a Houston family are searching for a reckless driver they say nearly killed them along Highway 290.

It happened just after 9 p.m. Friday near the Mangum Road exit.

Kimberly Aguillard and her husband were in the front of their car with their 8-year-old daughter in the back. That is when Aguillard says a woman driving a white Trailblazer rammed into the side of their car, pinning them against the concrete barrier. “We were just sliding along the highway,” Aguillard said.  “We honestly didn’t think we were going to make it.”

The impact forced her 8-year-old daughter out of her seat belt, which caused her to hit her head against the car. “My baby’s face was gushing blood,” Aguillard said.

The impact also shattered glass, dented the car and even knocked off a tire. “I just thank God we did not spin out of control and we were able to keep straight,” Aguillard said.

The incident only lasted a matter of minutes before the driver took off. Now Aguillard is hoping someone can help locate the driver, so she can face consequences. “I hope she saw my baby's face. I hope she saw the fear in my family's face as she drove off,” Aguillard said.

The driver is described as a heavy-set African-American woman, age 28-35. She was driving a 2003 or 2004 white Trailblazer, which probably now has dents on the side of it.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.
