Family comes home to house fire, car missing

A family of five went out for dinner and came back to find their home burnt down and their SUV missing, according to firefighters 

The Houston Fire Department responded to reports of a one-story house on fire around 2 a.m. Sunday morning near North Loop Freeway and Leffingwell Street, according to officials.

Firefighters said the house was taken over by flames, but they were able to quickly get them under control.

The mother and father came home with their 18-year-old son, 3-year-old daughter, and 2-year-old son after firefighters had already arrived to find their home completely ruined by the fire and their 2009 Tahoe missing from the driveway. according to authorities.

Arson detectives are investigating to see if the fire and the car theft are related incidents.
