Family begs for justice after man is hit by truck

HOUSTON – Struggling to hold back tears, Ludivina Rivera describes how bad of shape her nephew is now in and his fight to stay alive.

Ancelmo Rivera, 24, had just registered his kids at school Wednesday afternoon when he was riding his bike on a sidewalk along the 8500 block of Hammerly when he was hit by a truck.

"He says he didn't know how, or from where and he lost consciousness," Ludivina Rivera said.

Police say that driver dragged Rivera nearly 30 feet, then abandoned the truck at a nearby park.

Now, Rivera is at Ben Taub hospital, barely able to move and only recently able to open his eyes.

"Someone knows what happened, or if this person is listening turn yourself in. All we want is justice," said Rivera.

Police are still looking for the driver of that truck as the family of this young father of two prays he makes a full recovery.

"This person after hitting him and running over him, then to leave, they don't have a heart," said Rivera.
