HOUSTON - Harris County is warning that scammers are calling people and pretending to be law enforcement collecting debts.

They try to intimidate the victim saying they will throw them in jail if they don't pay up.

Sometimes the caller ID will even say the sheriff's Department.

Investigators have had reports that these scammers have even claimed to be Sheriff Adrian Garcia.

The Sheriff's Department says they will never call you for an unpaid debt.
