Employees fired after viral video shows talk of having sex with customers, spitting in food

PHILADELPHIA, Penn. – Several employees at a Checkers restaurant in Philadelphia were fired after a video that showed them talking about having sex with customers.

The video was posted over the weekend and has gone viral. LiveLeak shared an edited version of the video showing employees talking about unsanitary acts that they claim they do in the kitchen.

The entire Facebook Live video is 44 minutes. One of the employees claims that his co-workers have had sex with customers at the restaurant. At one point in the video, he smokes a cigarette in the kitchen.

"I'm about to wash the floors with these burgers," one employee said. "I scratch my head and make a burger."

NBC10 obtained the most recent city health inspection report of that Checkers location. The report showed the restaurant was out of compliance on several cleanliness and hygiene issues.

A spokesperson for Checkers released a statement to NBC10:

"The behavior of these employees does not meet our high standards for food preparation and guest service, and does not represent the thousands of Checkers employees who do an outstanding job every day. As soon as we became aware of the post, we immediately contacted the franchisee, who proactively closed the restaurant late last night. The employees involved will be terminated, the restaurant will be fully sanitized and re-inspected before it reopens, and all of the team members will be fully retrained."

According to NBC10, Richard Benson, one of the fired employees, did the video as a publicity stunt to promote his music. He claims it was a joke.

"There wasn't anything going on that I was saying, but I was saying it because I knew it would draw attention," Benson said. "Now a lot of people don't have jobs because of me and I feel bad. Because it was all a joke."
